IVR logoWhy join The Graduate Programme for Preclinical In Vivo Research?

If your PhD project involves animal experimentation, you have come to the right place! Our graduate programme for Preclinical In Vivo Research (IVR) trains researchers in how to conduct proper animal studies – both from an ethical and scientific point of view.

Animals are widely used in biomedical research, e.g. to study a variety of disease models and mechanisms across disciplines, drug metabolism, pharmacology, toxicology, behaviour, and in the search for new therapies for human diseases. Non-animal techniques are gaining traction, and although they cannot completely replace animal models at this point, we are committed to replacing animal experiments when possible by validating new methodologies.

When you graduate from IVR, you will be uniquely qualified to conduct scientifically sound animal studies and become part of a network of in vivo scientists and former graduates. This network allows you to establish contact with experts both within and outside your own research environment. Your qualifications will be highly valuable, widely applicable and in strong demand across a wide range of industries; IVR has a long history and strong reputation of providing excellent PhD candidates for the pharmaceutical, biotech and CRO industries, academia as well as the public sector, e.g. The Danish Medicines Agency.

It is our vision that the students and scientists we train have a high international level and contribute globally to evidence-based disease prevention and treatment. In our programme, students are guided by a group of senior scientists dedicated to the training of new researchers in mastering the many different aspects of animal experiments. We are eager for you to make the most of our network and that is why we always include a social component to our events.
