Meet some of our PhD students

In the In Vivo Pharmacology graduate programme, we have students working within several topics. Meet some of them below and read about their background, project, and why they are a part of IVP.

Project title: Optimizing anesthetic and analgesic strategies in laboratory mice.

Expected Submission Date: 31st July 2026.

Main supervisor: Peter Bollen.

Introduction: I graduated as a veterinarian in June and started my PhD studies in August. During my studies, I have volunteered by hosting Smediefesten at Frederiksberg Campus as well as being a rush week tutor, aka. “rusvejleder” several years. Now, my desire to volunteer and improve the everyday life of myself and my fellows has gotten me into being an IVP student representative. In my personal time, I enjoy tinkering with home automation and my 3D printer - unless a dip in the ocean is even more tempting.

Background: In lab mouse studies, inadequate pain management challenges their welfare, driven by difficulties in pain assessment, side effect concerns, and fear of treatment interference. This project assesses anesthetic strategies and explores innovative pain assessment approaches, aiming to enhance animal welfare and scientific integrity. The focus is on refining mouse anesthesia for broader translational benefits in research and clinical settings.

Courses completed or enrolled:

  • Scientific project planning and management.
  • Statistics for experimental medical researchers.
  • Introduction to Python for Data Analysis and Automation in Biology.
  • The PhD-student as supervisor - leadership education (enrolled)

Any other business: Working with external collaborator (Aivero) on implementing camera streaming from the stables/lab as a tool to facilitate using video recordings.
